The Southern Alberta Investment & Trade Initiative (SAITI) needed a series of animated videos for Youtube ads to promote the region’s strengths in green energy. Working from three provided scripts, I saw the project all the way through from initial storyboarding to final animation. Working within a tight timeline was a challenge, but led to creative solutions in both the design and animation.

Once the storyboards were approved, I developed the visual frames by combining black-and-white photography with flat vector elements and layered textures to create a friendly yet contemporary aesthetic. The images were refined in Photoshop, vector elements built in Illustrator, and the final compositions animated in After Effects, where I added music and end cards to complete the project.
I enjoyed the creative challenge of blending photography with vector elements to create scenes that felt playful and dynamic. In the second video, I carried this approach further by incorporating a recurring theme of plants sprouting throughout the animation.
The collage style became a key advantage in meeting deadlines—sourcing imagery was far more efficient than building every asset from scratch, and the contrast between photo textures and vector graphics gave the animations a distinctive look.
